The volunteer Pet Rescue Network, a Partner in Placement with the Ottawa Humane Society, finds loving adult(s)-only homes in the Ottawa area for small dogs not best suited for the general adoption wards. The Network needs both temporary (foster) and permanent (adoptive) homes with no children under 16 years old, and where a dog would not have to spend more than 5-6 hours a day alone.
Fostering is an equally win-win proposition for the dog and for the care-giver. While people are welcome to adopt their fosteree, those preferring a shorter term commitment perform an invaluable service by looking after an animal until the ideal home-for-life is found. (Any pangs upon parting with him or her are very temporary compared to the lasting gratification of having helped to give a most deserving homeless pet the chance that he or she so much needed.)
For further information on adopting any of the dogs currently available shown above or on fostering a future one, please call the Network co-ordinator at 236-1964. (Please note that Pet Rescue Network only places dogs in the Ottawa area, and cannot return long distance phone calls.)
